The impressive Arclight movie theater has come up with a great idea for those of us who
don't like our summer movie going experience spoiled by screaming children running up
and down the aisles.
They now offer 21 and over screenings where you can enjoy the films with an audience of fellow adults and get an alcoholic drink from the bar right outside the special screening room.
There was something wonderful about having a cocktail while watching the animated comedy Over The Hedge - which I really enjoyed, even without the help of the alcohol,
and being carded on the way in, really made my night.
An Incovenient Truth
Informative, but boring was the Al Gore documentary about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth. Most truths are inconvenient by nature-why should this truth be any different.
It should have been a riveting and terrifying study of the environmental threat but instead played out like an endless lecture in a college hall.
Al Gore's southern drawl was pleasing enough to listen to, but soon become monotonous as he got out his statistical graphs and began droning on about climate patterns in the style of an ancient geography teacher.
I kept longing for Al's old boss Bill Clinton to wander into the movie and breath some life into it.
It has to be tough for a guy that used to be the next president of The United States.

I’m not sure if it’s the happiest place on earth, but it’s definitely the whitest.
While middle America was represented in all it’s glory, something was definitely missing. Other people……and by that, I mean people of color. Not one employee of African American
descent. For that matter, I only spotted about a dozen different faces that weren’t
Wonder Bread. Odd.
The park itself was in immaculate condition, everything clean and in it’s place. Space Mountain was all that I had hoped it would be, except for the long lines filled with tired families beginning to boil over with domestics disputes.
Food was standard-a Mickey Mouse pop for breakfast, Loony Toon burgers for lunch, and Dumbo lollipops for dinner. What more could a little kid want????

BEVERLIZ CAFE, S. BEVERLY DRIVE.
Imagine a cafe where you never get what you want. Well you don't have to imagine - it's already here in Beverly Hills.
The Beverliz Cafe on South Beverly Drive has good food but is rather confusing on the ordering side. For example, whatever bread you order on your sandwich, they always bring wheat.
They actually bring a totally different kind of sandwich as well, so it’s a bad bet for fussy eaters.
The husband and wife team in charge run it like a private club for their noisy friends, so once they get blabbing, a pleasant dining experience is not guaranteed. Avoid.

25 DEGREES
When I heard the rumor that the best burger in Los Angeles was to be found at the new restaurant inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, I just had to check it out. As a self proclaimed connoisseur of good meat, I am always on the prowl for satisfying fare.
At $15, the burger and fries combo at 25 Degrees was melt in your mouth quality and definitely didn't disappoint. The patty was juicy and thick, the cheese and other toppings were tasty and the crispy seasoned fries were fantastic.
But the brioche bun let the whole thing down a bit and the slow, inattentive service was another black mark. All together a good burger, but certainly not the best burger in town. The search continues.

Think you’re the only one that needs to unwind?
Consider your poor pooch that has been cooped up all day. For the last year, Jenna Wicks
has helped people and their pups relax and connect on the patio of her Venice beach store, Tails of Santa Monica.
Committed to an entirely holistic approach to pet health care, her entire line of food and animal
snacks are 100% natural. Regulars include a bohemian bunch of big hearted beach folk looking to socialize and exercise their animals.
One such local, Ailene Hathway brings her retriever “Lovie” on a weekly basis. Lovie is a service dog and Aileen has produced an entire series of books about dogs with jobs and their importance to the people they serve.
Cookies and drinks, socializing and exercising for people and their pets. Good clean fun!
