From Vogue Magazine to Sports Illustrated to MTV, up-and-coming bikini designer Ashley Paige has brought a unique fashion update to the 50-year-old bikini. The standard bikini look has been remade to include wild and creative influences never seen before.

Paige’s swimsuits have been making a splash, incorporating a freewheeling hippie vibe of hand-made knit fabric that has caught on with the Young Hollywood set as Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Liv Tyler and the Hilton Sisters have been seen sporting Ashley Paige bikinis on the beach and at poolside.

Beverly Hills People recently visited Ashley Paige’s Hollywood headquarters at Studio 1616 to discuss the designer’s approach to breakthrough bikini fashions. Despite her growing status as the go-to person for bikinis, Paige maintains a down-to-earth attitude in her approach to the unstable fashion biz.

Such attitude is apparent when one drops in behind Ashley Paige's Hollywood boutique where she keeps an office of four and then behind this office she has a design center where assistants are cutting and knitting 24/7. This is also where she runs an animal-adoption center. Not everything in Ashley Paige's life is made of bikini fabric and her efforts for animal and environmental issues bares this out.

Nonetheless, her shows are described as “rocking spectacles” by the fashion press, as her earthy hippie-chick style macramé and stretchy boho knits have been the main focus of her line along with sexy, barely-there style cuts and dangerously low necklines.

According to Paige, her designs are inspired by such pop culture touchstones as “vintage Mustang automobiles with elaborate handwork”. Such a color palette of earth tones combined with blues and yellow stripes accented by beaded strings would suit any nostalgic hippie chick from the 1970's.

Whether discussing her line of fun, colorful and oh-so hot bikinis or her passion for environmental and animal-welfare causes, Ashley Paige is the same enthusiastic person who spends time thinking about doing things bigger and better in the future.

Featured in 60 stores nationwide, Ashley Paige swimwear can be found from California to New York to Florida, including high-end fashion retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Henry Bendels.

She also enthusiastically alludes to her plans for expanding her line and she's currently looking for an investor to help take her designs to the next level, which besides her trademark knit bikini will feature a new line of dresses, fun tops, and loungewear.
