WHY WE ARE PROTESTING POSH PUPPY

Posh Puppy acquires their dogs from mass-breeding facilities ("puppy mills") that keep animals in CRUEL AND INHUMANE conditions, in the interest of maximizing profits. BEcause puppies from puppy mills are more likely to have health problems due to poor care and breeding, many consumers are faced with significant veterinary bills or even the death of their puppy soon after purchase. We are trying to stop these practices and protect the public.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • Adopt a Dog
Posh Puppy has been SUED for selling sick dogs. You can find the details of one such suit online by going to Yelp.com and searching for Posh Puppy. The case number is LAV 07V04563.
  • The Humane Society has determined, through extensive investigation, that almost all dogs sold by pet stores come from puppy mills, even though the dogs are marketed as "AKC certified" or "from reputable" or "UISDA licence" breeders. In truth, reputable breeders never sell their dogs to pet stores for resale, and under the USDA Minimum Standard of Care, the animals NEVER get out of their cages and only have six inches in front of them to turn around - for LIFE.
  • There is a serious pet overpopulation crisis in our country. In California alone, over 500,000 homeless pets are killed every year, at a cost to taxpayers of over $250,000,000. Stores like Posh Puppy are adding to this crisis.
  • As many as 1/3 of the dogs in animal shelters are purebreds. If you are looking for a pure -bred dog, you can acquire one at a shelter, or through a breed -specific rescue group, and pay a small donation. There is no need to spend thousands of dollars to buy a pure-bred dog. And you'll be saving a life.
  • Any money spent at Posh Puppy supports and perpetuates a cycle of cruel treatment of animals. There are 2 upscale pet supply stores nearby that do not sell puppy mill dogs.
  • We are not "animal extremists" or "crazies", as the owners of Posh Puppy might want you to believe. Most of us are professionals who are affiliated with reputable animal welfare groups, such as Last Chance for Animals, Best Friends Society and the Humane Society of the United States. Many of us are residents of Beverly Hills who simply want to protect the public and prevent animal cruelty. For more information, please visit banpuppymills.com or petstorecruelty.org.
